As the Mormon church has promoted anti-LGBTQ policies, youth suicide rates have climbed in Utah. So, Imagine Dragons' Dan Reynolds created a music festival to show LGBTQ kids they're not alone

“I grew up in a very conservative Mormon family. I still am Mormon,” says Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds. “I have seen, for many years, what seems to be a divide between the LGBTQ community and the Mormon community.”

Indeed, as the Mormon church has increasingly promoted anti-LGBTQ policies, youth suicide rates have tripled in Utah. Today, suicide is the leading cause of death for kids ages 10-17.

To show LGBTQ youth they’re not alone, Reynolds created LoveLoud, a one-day music festival in Orem, Utah, where 17,000 fans gathered in August to hear sets from the Dragons, Neon Trees and Krewella.
